Crystal Forest

After composing more than 300 tracks for Feed Originals under the name Akai Masa, Taku Hirano now steps forward with his first Feed Originals release within his own personal identity. The Crystal Forest album release marks an evolution from arena stages to intentional listening. The record is built on space, tone, and subtle pulse, reflecting a percussionist’s understanding of time, even when rhythm is nearly imperceptible.

“As a percussionist, I think about time and space differently,” Hirano says. “Even in ambient music, rhythm is present. It may not be obvious, but there is always an internal pulse guiding the listener.”

Taku Hirano

Taku Hirano is a world-renowned percussionist whose touring and recording career spans artists from Fleetwood Mac and LeAnn Rimes to Stevie Wonder and Dr. Dre. He has performed in arenas and stadiums in more than 30 countries and appeared on multiple GRAMMY Awards telecasts. A Berklee College of Music graduate and the school’s first graduating hand percussion principal, Hirano is also a Professor of Practice in Music Industry Studies at Tulane University and a longtime contributor to Feed Originals.
