Feed Originals FAQ
What is Feed Originals?
Feed Originals is Feed.fm's in-house music label: a catalog of original, science-backed music commissioned for fitness, wellness, and other digital and physical brand experiences. Every track is wholly owned by Feed.fm, so licensing is simpler and more flexible than working with major-label catalogs or generic stock music sites.
How is Feed Originals different from stock music or royalty-free libraries?
Feed Originals tracks are composed with intention, not pulled from a generic loop library. The catalog is built in partnership with composers who've worked with artists like Fleetwood Mac and U2, and with research advisors from Stanford and Brunel University. Tracks are designed around specific outcomes (focus, relaxation, sleep, motivation) rather than just filling space.
Who uses Feed Originals?
Three main groups:
- Creators, agencies, and advertisers who need to download tracks and sync them into videos, podcasts, social content, ads, or presentations.
- Physical businesses (gyms, hotels, spas, restaurants, retail, medical offices) that want licensed background music for their space.
- Apps and digital products that want to stream curated Feed Originals stations to their users.
Each of these has its own licensing model, covered below.
What genres are in the catalog?
Hip-hop, pop, dance, house, acoustic, indie, Latin, rock, lo-fi, downtempo, ambient, and nature sounds, plus wellness-specific collections built for fitness, focus, relaxation, meditation, and sleep. New music is added monthly.
Subscriptions and download plans
What subscription plans are available?
|
Plan |
Downloads/month |
Price |
|---|---|---|
|
Starter |
10 |
$85/mo |
|
Growth |
25 |
$175/mo |
|
Pro |
50 |
$350/mo |
|
Studio |
100 |
$600/mo |
All four plans include unused credit rollover and the same all-media license. Growth is the most popular tier for teams producing regular content.
What do I get with a subscription license?
A worldwide, all-media license in perpetuity. You can sync tracks into videos, podcasts, social content, ads, presentations, and other productions, and keep using anything you've already made even after your subscription ends.
Do unused downloads roll over?
Yes, as long as your subscription stays active. Credits carry over month to month rather than resetting, so a lighter production month doesn't waste your plan's downloads. If you cancel, any unused credits are forfeited, since your license to use the music in new productions ends along with the subscription.
What if I need more downloads than my plan allows in a given month?
Reach out to FOlicensing@feed.fm to purchase additional credits on top of your plan's monthly allotment.
Can I change or cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your subscription at any time from your account. A couple of things to know: if you downgrade (say, from Growth to Starter), any unused credits from the prior month stay on your account. If you cancel, unused credits are forfeited and you can no longer use the music in new productions, since canceling ends your license along with the subscription.
What if I only need a track or two?
One-time download packs don't require a subscription:
|
Pack |
Price |
|---|---|
|
Single track |
$25 |
|
5-song pack |
$60 |
|
25-song pack |
$275 |
|
50-song pack |
$500 |
Packs are valid for one year from purchase and don't auto-renew. Same worldwide, all-media license as a subscription.
Why do you limit downloads instead of offering unlimited access like some other libraries?
Because you're paying for curated work, not catalog volume. Every Feed Originals track is written and performed by world-class recording artists, not AI-generated, and vetted with input from research advisors studying what music actually does for focus, relaxation, movement, and more.
Licensing and usage rights
View the full terms and conditions
What can I actually do with a licensed track?
Sync it into audio, video, or podcast productions, including marketing, promotional content, digital products, and in-person events. You can also trim or crop a track to fit your content's length. You can sub-license the right to your production company to make content on your behalf, though you stay responsible for how they use it.
What can't I do with a licensed track?
A few hard lines under the standard subscription and pack license: you can't resell or repackage the music as your own, or use it on a standalone basis where the music itself is the main thing you're offering.
Film and television use (features, TV shows, commercials) isn't covered by the standard license either. That requires a custom quote. Please contact FOlicensing@feed.fm for more information.
You also can't remix or substantially alter the composition or recording beyond simple trimming for length, and standard content restrictions apply (no illegal activity, explicit content, hate speech, and similar).
Is the license global?
Yes. Every Feed Originals license, subscription or pack, covers worldwide use.
What happens to my content if I cancel or my license ends?
Anything you already produced during your license term, you can keep using indefinitely. You'd need to stop using the catalog in new productions and delete any standalone Feed Originals files you're holding onto.
Do I need a separate agreement for enterprise or custom use?
Yes, if you need terms beyond the self-serve plans (larger scale, custom SOW terms, or the in-person or in-app options below), that runs through a signed agreement with Feed.fm rather than the subscription store.
Can I get custom music made for my brand?
Yes. Feed Originals composers can build a custom soundtrack from a music brief you work through with a curator. This is quoted separately from the standard catalog license.
In-app and digital product licensing
Can I stream Feed Originals inside my app or connected device?
Yes. This runs on custom pricing rather than the flat plans above, since it depends on your integration and audience. Feed Originals offers pre-curated stations (top genres, wellness-focused collections like Deep Focus or Ocean Sleep) or fully custom stations built for your brand.
How do I integrate it?
Through Feed.fm's SDKs, which include a built-in music player so you can implement a music menu and let users choose their own station.
